How much does a new fence cost, and how is it priced?

It depends on material, height, length, and how many gates, so we don't quote sight-unseen. After a free on-site measure you get a written, line-item quote within 48 hours that breaks out posts, panels, gates, and haul-off separately - so you can see exactly what you're paying for and the number doesn't shift mid-build. Cedar privacy runs more than chain-link; ornamental iron and automated gates run the most.

Cedar, vinyl, iron, or chain-link - which fence should I choose?

For a private backyard most folks want six- or eight-foot western red cedar with a good-neighbor face. Vinyl costs more up front but never needs staining and shrugs off the sun, so it's popular around pools. Ornamental iron or aluminum secures the yard while keeping the Hill Country view open. Chain-link is the budget pick for dog runs and side yards. When we walk your line we'll give you a straight answer for your yard, not a sales pitch.

Do you set posts in concrete? My last fence leaned within a couple years.

Every post, every time - that's the whole reason we exist. San Antonio's caliche and expansive clay heave posts that are tamped into plain dirt, which is why your last fence leaned. We auger below the clay line, set each post in concrete, and brace it plumb until the mix cures so the line stays straight through the wet-dry swing.

Will you build to my HOA's rules, and do I need a permit?

Yes. We build to your association's required height, picket style, and the side the smooth good-neighbor face has to point, and we match stain color where it's specified - approved the first time, with no back-and-forth. Most residential fences in our area don't need a city permit, but we'll flag it if yours does, and on shared lines we coordinate with your neighbor before we dig so a new fence never starts a property dispute.

How long does a typical fence installation take?

Most residential yards are a two- to three-day job: one day to tear out the old fence and auger and set posts, then a day or two for panels and gates once the concrete has had time to set up. Limestone shelf in places like Boerne, long acreage runs, and custom welded drive gates add time, and we'll give you a realistic schedule with your quote - then keep it.

What kind of warranty do you offer?

Five years of workmanship coverage on every new install, in writing. That covers the things that actually fail on a fence - a post that doesn't stay plumb, a gate that won't swing true. Hardware on our wood fences is hot-dip galvanized so it doesn't rust out, and gates ride a welded steel frame instead of stapled pickets so they keep latching themselves shut past year five.

Can you repair or restain my existing fence instead of replacing it?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes. We reset leaning posts, swap out rotted pickets, and re-hang sagging gates, and we brush on a penetrating stain to keep the South Texas heat from drying your cedar out. If more than a third of the run is failing it's usually cheaper to rebuild than to chase repairs, and we'll tell you honestly which way the math points when we look at it.

Question 8

What happens to my old fence, and how do you leave the yard?

We tear out and haul off your old fence as part of the job - you don't have to deal with the debris. Before we leave we run a magnet sweep over the work area to pull up stray nails and screws so they don't end up in a tire or a paw. You get your yard back clean, not littered with our scraps.
